Grade 10, Landscaping (Open) TCJ 2OL
This course introduces students to landscape design, construction and maintenance relating to home and small business. Skills and processes involved in related industries, and the development of employment skills are also addressed. Students will gain practical experience within each area of landscaping including use of plant materials, processes, construction techniques, tools and equipment. They will also consider health and safety issues and explore careers, the importance of lifelong learning, and the impact of landscape trades on society and the environment.

Grade 11, Landscape Technology (Workplace Preparation) THL 351
This course focuses on landscape design, construction and maintenance relating to home and small business. Students will be introduced to the skills and processes involved in related landscape industries, and the development of employment skills in preparation for apprenticeship and training programs. Students will gain practical experience with use of various types of materials, processes, and techniques used in the landscape industry. They will also study industry standards and codes, consider health and safety issues and explore careers. The importance of lifelong learning is reinforced relating to how this industry influences our society and the environment.

Grade 11, Landscape Technology (Workplace Preparation) THL 352
This 2 credit course focuses on landscape design, construction and maintenance relating to home and small business. Students will be introduced to the skills and processes involved in related landscape industries, and the development of employment skills in preparation for apprenticeship and training programs. Students will gain practical experience with use of various types of materials, processes, and techniques used in the landscape industry. They will also study industry standards and codes, consider health and safety issues and explore careers. The importance of lifelong learning is reinforced relating to how this industry influences our society and the environment. This 2-credit course gives students an extra period of time in the shop working on practical projects focusing on the landscaping industry.

This course focuses on more complex landscape techniques relating to residential commercial and industrial design, construction and maintenance. The main focus will be on advanced practical workplace applications in all areas of the landscape industry with the emphasis on the development of effective employment skills and independent learning skills. Students will develop skills relating to site analysis and design. They will learn about materials, processes, and techniques used in the landscape construction and maintenance industry. Students will continue their studies of industry standards and codes, health and safety issues and career opportunities.
Prerequisite: THL35 1 credit
