HIP - Halton Internship Program
Currently available for Communications Technology, Landscaping, Hospitality, Child Care (click name for a pdf brochure)
The Internship Program provides students with specific education, work experience and training relating to their areas of interest. Students are given the opportunity to specialize in specific areas within one industry in order to prepare for post secondary education and / or work placement. Practical Skill Development and Independent study programs will accommodate specializations. A strong emphasis is placed on industry support and involvement to maximize the relevancy of career preparation and training.
- 3 level internship leading to multi level post secondary education pathways.
- Specialized program emphasis for individual Communications interests.
- Individual career counseling from teacher/ career coach.
- Industry connections and partnerships.
- Specific skill development with Industry Standard workplace equipment

- Is a Ministry approved program
- Enables the student to complete the training required preceding their on the job apprenticeship
- Enables students to complete OSSD requirements while completing their apprenticeship training
- Many professionals including doctors, lawyers, engineers and nurses do similar on the job learning as part of their training and certification
- Begin apprenticeship training while completing your secondary school diploma
- Reduce apprenticeship time by 1 1/2 years
- Get your foot in the door with a potential employer
- Attend college level program without paying tuition
- Opportunity for qualifications in CPR and First Aid
- Individualized instruction
- Be registered as an apprentice with an employer and the government while still attending high school

- College destination students earn 2 Math (College or University), 2 Physics, 4 Manufacturing

The Halton Home Builders Program is a four credit, one semester program, in which students experience the many skilled trades available in the home building industry while building a house from the ground up.
